Welcome to the website of REACHE North West
Here you will find information about REACHE North West and the courses and support we offer to refugee and asylum-seeking health professionals (RHPs).
REACHE North West has won awards for the training which we provide, the most recent being Highly Commended in the Health Service Journal Value Awards 2019 and the Health Stream Sanctuary Award from City of Sanctuary in January 2014. As of January 2020 we have helped 224 refugee healthcare professionals back to their professions in the UK.
We regret that during the situation with COVID-19 REACHE NW is working at full capacity. We are unlikely to accept new members. We will keep this under review and will start processing new applications when we can.
Occupational English Test (OET) news
REACHE NW started supporting the new English test for doctors and nurses in May 2018, and between then and December 2018 we have helped 25 people get the test score they needed. Well done to them, and to our English tutors.
UPDATE August 2019: To date, we have helped 46 doctors to get the test scores they needed to progress in their profession.
More about our work
In April 2017, Dr Ann Smalldridge, GP and tutor at REACHE NW did a podcast about the work at REACHE NW for Ockham Healthcare. You can listen to the podcast by following this link.
Important information for Refugee Healthcare Professionals
REACHE North West will help refugee health professionals who live in the North West. However, our resources are limited and we are not able to provide teaching for both the International English Language Testing System and the Occupational English Test (OET) examination. The overwhelming majority of our members asked for OET support, therefore we have stopped providing IELTS preparation. Unfortunately this means that we are not currently able to help those professions for whom OET is not an option. The only professions we are currently supporting are doctors and nurses.
