The REACHE Clinical Apprenticeship Scheme provides an opportunity for job-ready refugee doctors to work as an honorary Trust House Officer in supported three month posts. The aim is to improve doctors’ chances of obtaining substantive posts in the NHS by providing supervised clinical experience. The majority of participants have been successful in gaining employment since finishing the scheme.
The Clinical Apprenticeship scheme is recognised by the UK Foundation Programme Office as a potential way of obtaining Foundation Training for refugee doctors who would not otherwise be eligible.
These posts include an educational programme run by REACHE North West. The three month duration of the posts means that participants are eligible to apply for locum work after completion.
The scheme has been running since 2005 and takes on new participants three to four times a year. For information on the next scheme, please use the form on the contact page.
